Montgomery County Development Corporation (MCDC) is a 501(c) 4 not-for-profit corporation focused on providing community-based economic development leadership and programs focused on meeting economic and social needs of our communities, businesses, organizations and residents within the Montgomery County, Iowa area.

Our Purpose
Montgomery County Development Corporation (MCDC) is dedicated to fostering economic growth across the county. Our approach centers on key areas backed by local businesses, educational and financial institutions, healthcare organizations, investors, and governmental collaborators.
Our mission is to address these priorities through a variety of initiatives. We focus on developing a skilled workforce to enhance diverse job prospects, along with boosting the county’s overall financial growth. Our strategies include nurturing talent and addressing workforce needs, promoting housing projects, and supporting business growth through recruitment, retention, and expansion. We also concentrate on small business and entrepreneurial growth, revitalizing downtown areas, improving transportation, and advancing fiber and technology infrastructures. Moreover, we are committed to renewable and sustainable practices, boosting tourism, and attracting people to the region. Additionally, we emphasize mentoring, leadership development, and community engagement, all aimed at enhancing the quality of life for everyone in Montgomery County and the broader Southwest Iowa region.
Staff
Ben Lundgren, Executive Director

Ben Lundgren is the Executive Director at MCDC, a role he began in August, 2025. With over 15 years of experience in agricultural and commercial credit and lending, Ben brings a wealth of knowledge to his position, with a strong focus on promoting economic growth within Montgomery County.
Ben holds a Master of Science in Economics from Purdue University (2025) and dual Bachelor’s degrees in Economics and Agricultural Business from Iowa State University (2010). His academic background, combined with his hands-on experience, positions him to drive impactful initiatives aimed at strengthening Montgomery County’s economy.
Prior to joining MCDC Ben worked at Houghton State Bank from 2020 to 2025, where he gained valuable experience and developed deep connections within the local community. His broad expertise in economics and lending will allow him to understand the diverse needs of the region and implement strategies to foster growth across various sectors.
A native of Red Oak, Ben and his wife now live on an acreage in northern Montgomery County. Outside of work Ben enjoys spending time with his family and friends.
